I'm Emma. An architectural and interior designer with over 25 years of experience helping people renovate their homes.

Nope. I have been mindful to keep the guide easy to read and understand. You can extract the value out of it very quickly. Then you can come back to go a little deeper when you reach certain stages of your project.

No! I know many designers recommend Ikea but there are limitations and Ikea kitchens can be more expensive than you might think. I cover this in the guide. My recommendations will give you more choice, more flexibility and more value.

That’s totally fine! I simply want people to make the right choice for themselves based on having all the information available. If you do choose the High Street then plenty of information in the guide will help you to ensure you get the best kitchen from the High Street.

Not necessarily. The guide covers a lot of ground beyond supplier selection. Like layout, lighting, hardware, appliances, and how to work with trades well. If you haven't finalised those decisions yet, there's still plenty in here that can save you money or a costly mistake.

Honestly? Probably less than someone sourcing independently. A good bespoke studio will hold your hand through the process, and that's exactly what you're paying for.
That said, even with a bespoke studio, certain sections will still earn their place. The Layout Stress Test works regardless of who's designing your kitchen, and my supplier recommendations for items such as lighting and hardware sit outside what most studios will specify. The guide is a fraction of a percent of what you're spending. So if it saves you one bad decision, it's paid for itself many times over.

The guide is written for the UK market. My supplier recommendations, standard practice and trade references are all UK-based. Some sections like the Layout Stress Test and the design principles will translate anywhere, but if you're outside the UK, that's worth knowing before you buy.
